50 Ways to Earn Extra Income

The uncertainty that came with Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions has led many people down a money rabbit-hole, struggling to make ends meet. Some of you may have also been furloughed, in which case your income may be lower than it normally would be.

Because of this, the motivation and need to earn extra income has never been so rife.

Can my hobby make me money?

Absolutely! There are hundreds of hobbies out there which you can get into and can do so from the comfort of your own home. Some will inevitably be more profitable than others depending on what it is you’re wanting to get into. Understanding what your current skill set is and how much you’re willing to invest in the beginning will be the perfect start to discovering which hobby will be best for you.

To help you get some ideas, I’ve created a list of 50 Ways to Earn Extra Money. So let’s take a look.

Are you Creative?

Fancy yourself an artist or enjoy creating things? The below hobbies will be perfect for you! Online platforms such as Etsy, eBay, Amazon and Shopify have made it super easy to establish your own business selling crafts.

  • Soap Making
  • Knitting
  • Making pet clothes
  • Macramé
  • Crochet
  • Candle Making
  • Create cards for all occasions
  • Paintings/Drawings
  • Label-making
  • Calligraphy writing
  • Carpentry

Wish to be more cash savvy?

In these uncertain times, stretching cash in between pay days is the new norm’. Try to be more cash savvy by signing up to cashback sites such as Top Cashback (where you can earn cash back on purchases). You’ll be massively surprised at the savings you can make on these sites and I would highly recommend it for big purchases, such as a new broadband contract. Also use voucher codes/discount codes as seen on Honey and Vouchercodes.

  • Cashback
  • Voucher codes
  • Collect coupons
  • Sign up for an NUS discount card (if you’re still in education)

Wish to be more business’y?

See yourself as the next Lord Alan? Why not set up your own business or try something new.

  • Start investing/trading
  • Start a blog
  • Become a brand ambassador/affiliate
  • Start a Youtube channel
  • Stream video games

Are you a foodie?

I don’t know about you, but all I’ve done during lockdown is eat countless letterbox brownies! Platforms such as Etsy have become so popular for these sorts of things.

  • Sell baked goods
  • Make your own jams
  • Start home brewing

Declutter!

Hanging onto that dress you haven’t fitted into for 5 years? Get rid! Selling your items on platforms such as Shpock or Depop (or Music Magpie for tech) can earn you lots of $$.

  • Sell your clothes/shoes/books
  • Sell your old mobile phones/tech
  • Sell images to Shutterstock
  • Buy and sell antiques
  • Buy and sell job lots

Start an online class

Do you usually host a class but have not been able to during lockdown? Why not create a virtual Zoom class and collect subscriptions as usual.

  • Online comedy show
  • Become an online tutor/coach
  • Start a fitness class – Yoga/Dance/PT
  • Feng shui/Interior design

Sell a service

Hone in on those skills and offer out your services. Unless you’re trying out something new, utilising your current skill set should be the perfect hobby choice (as you should already be half decent!).

  • Become a virtual assistant
  • Dog walk/dog sit
  • Babysit
  • Start an afterschool club
  • Professional services/advice
  • Bookkeeping
  • Proofreading
  • Online surveys
  • Event planning
  • Freelance writing/blogging
  • Social media manager
  • Video editing
  • Voice-over work
  • Create a local guide/tours/walks
  • Become an Uber or Deliveroo driver
  • Coding
  • Web design
  • Rent your driveway

I hope this has given you some food for thought and got those creative juices flowing!

How me and the girlies spend intentionally 👀👇 Bec How me and the girlies spend intentionally 👀👇

Because I live so far away from my besties, every time we meet up, we make a DAY of it 🎉

I’m talking classes, crafting, anything - and I will always make room in my budget for our girly activities 💸 no matter if it’s a £5 craft day or £45 wreath making class.

What’s your fave way to spend time with your friends?

We need some more ideas for 2025 as 2024 has been a good’n 😍

Costco is probs one of my fave shops, I could spend hours in there 🤣 and they always go ✨all out✨ for Xmas.

P.s we did secretly purchase the chocolate orange sponge pudding (for research purposes only of course) and I can confirm it was MEGA 🤤 (serves 6? Looool 😂🤭).

I’m loving putting these gift guides together, as I know some people are just impossible to buy for 🙈 Let me know in the comments if there’s anyone you’re struggling to buy for and I’ll help you out 💗

How to finish 2024 with a BANG 💥👇 I know how temp How to finish 2024 with a BANG 💥👇

I know how tempting it is at this time of year to just think f*** it, Christmas is here, I’ll start again in the New Year.

But doing this will only push the goal posts further away and you’ve worked too hard to give up now!!🫶

Instead you can make some choices to still have fun over Xmas but without sacrificing that bigger picture 👀

I’ve been there before whacking my spending on the credit card and acting like Mrs Claus on the day handing out a mountain of presents 🎁

It’s nice and all to be ✨that person✨, but when it’s going to leave you recovering financially for weeks or even months, it is just not worth it.

I make no changes to my December budget as my sinking funds cover the majority of my spending. I still make sure I’m investing, saving and working towards my bigger goals 🎯

I hope you found this post useful and motivating 😍

I’d love to know what goals you’re currently working towards?! 🎉🎉🎉
